1 year gone.

It's been a year since we got the bad news. (Tear, Weap, Sob) I'm still pissed at the lawyers for killing this thing.

It looks official.

According to Bloomberg.com the GX3 is official canned. There will be no production model due to legal bullshit. I'm pissed off. The End.

Dealership re-con.

Friday afternoon I went down to the local VW dealership to check out the new Rabbit, and decided to ask about the GX3 while I was there. According to the salesman I spoke with, the dealership management is certain they will be receiving the GX3. The only question now is when they will be built, and whether or not they'll even be a VW. I don't know how accurate this information is, but it is a bit of hope for those of us that want one (or at least want to see it produced).

I might go ask the other VW dealership in the area if they too are expecting the GX3. It would only make sense for they to have the same info if the thing was going to be built. If I get the same response from the various dealerships I will be a whole lot more confident in the info.

Conflicting Information.

Last week I received my issue of Volkswagen Driver Magazine, and it has an advertisement/ article for the GX3. The piece on the GX3 states the vehicle will come with a 1.6-liter engine as opposed to the 1.4 that I (as well as everyone else) reported earlier. I far as I'm concerned the bigger the engine the better. I want to see sub 5.0 0-60mph times from this thing.

A New Life?

I mentioned in the last post that the death of the GX3 is not yet official. Which means there is still hope that we may see this vehicle in showrooms some day. I came across this article from "Automobile" that has some insight into the ways Volkswagen may avoid the liability issues mentioned in the previous post. It seems Volkswagen may market the GX3 through a junior brand. This would alleviate VW of certain types of liability. Looks like we need to keep hope alive.

It's over.

It looks like the lawyers over at VW have axed the GX3 project fearing legal issues. Because the GX3 is no quite a car and not quite a motorcycle the company fears it could cause serious liability issues for the company. All this as news comes out that VW has already started promising GX3's to dealerships. VW wanted to build the GX3 in the US, and was in the process of finding a site for production. They wanted to have the production begin in mid-2007. There isn't yet a final decision, but it looks like the GX3 has been killed. You can read more about it here.

Related VW News.

These don't directly tie into the GX3, but these stories seem somewhat related to the overall project.

The 1.4 liter TSI engine that will potentially grace the GX3 was recently named Engine of the Year in the 1-1.4 liter catergory, as well being named Best New Engine 2006. Check out a rundown of the winners here: Inside Line

Also it looks like this engine, which currently is in use in euro spec Golf's, and will make it's US debut with the Rabbit this summer, may also show up in the new Scirocco in 2008. VW has confirmed production of this vehicle, what they have not done is given info about the spec's of the vehicle. Some rumors claim a 2.3L V6 others tout the 1.4L TSI. It makes sense for them to go with both, sort of like the 4th Gen. GTI. If it does get the 1.4L it will be sharing it with the GX3. Check out the great computer generated image curtesy of Auto Motor und Sport.

Commentary Wanted

I was just fiddling about with blogger, and I noticed I can add others to this blog that can post on their own. If you are interested in this contact me, and I'll go over the procedure for joining the Official GX3 Blogspot Team, or OGBT (pronounced OG-Bot) for short.

Green Car Congress

I was searching the net for information to add to this blog (trust a lot more is coming soon), and I came across this discussion over at Greencarcongress.com. So far this is one of the best discussion's regarding the GX3 I've come across. The crowd over there at GCC really seem enthusiastic about the entire GX3 project.

I want to make sure anyone that reads this understands that I am not asking anything from you, other than you help/ support in bringing the GX3 to production. A note on the iWeb designed site linked in the previous entry; I am having trouble getting the edited site published, but it should be up soon enough.

I have a few large papers to write, and then finals over the next 3 weeks, which means after the 18th of May you should be seeing a lot more content on this blog, as well as more frequent updates.

Welcome...

This blog has been created to accompany the GX3 Homepage (which will be undergoing a major update in the coming days). The original purpose of the website above was to collect donations in my quest to buy a Volkswagen GX3, however I realized that is not in my best interest. What is in my best interest is getting the GX3 to the market. For that reason I will be changing the format of the site to a letter/ e-mail campaign aimed at getting VW to produce the GX3.

I am going to post whatever I find on the internet about the GX3, and other relevant VW news. If you have any information that would be beneficial for my campaign, I would greatly appreciate your help. I will publish posts on behalf of my readers, giving you full credit.

I'm not sure when my next post will occur, but hopefully it will be soon. I need to update the GX3 Homepage first, until then please do what you can to bring the GX3 to the market. That includes e-mailing both you local VW dealership, and the VW headquarters in your nation. In the USA that would be in Detroit.

Thank You for any help you can provide.
